Cesar Franck short biography

 

A great composer and organist, Cesar Franck’s goal was to become a concert pianist. Instead, Franck earned fame and respect as an outstanding organist. Franck was appointed organist at Ste. Clotilde, where the most modern organ in Europe was built. Franck’s organ performances attracted huge crowds. A very modest by nature, Franck was officially recognized later in his life: in 1871, Franck was appointed professor of organ the Paris Conservatoire. Franck is known to have a significant influence on many generations of composers and organists.
